MAUNDY THURSDAY WORSHIP
Thursday, April 18th at 6:30 PM
Our Fifth Grade Communion Class will receive communion with their families on this special night of worship. With them, we receive our Lord’s body and blood as we claim the words, “The body of Christ, given for you. The blood of Christ, shed for you.” Come experience the willingness of our Savior to be stripped of life and breath on our behalf as altar fixtures and paraments are solemnly removed until the day of his rising.
GOOD FRIDAY TENEBRAE SERVICE
Friday, April 19th at 6:30 PM
The word “tenebrae” comes from the Latin meaning “darkness.” The Tenebrae is an ancient Christian Good Friday service that features scripture readings and the extinguishing of candles. The increasing darkness symbolizes the approaching darkness and despair of Jesus’ death. Worshipers leave in silence to ponder the impact of Christ’s death and await the coming Resurrection.
PRAYERS AROUND THE CROSS
This year both our Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services are designed for the sanctuary. However, we will be offering a time after each service for personal prayer, candle lighting, and meditation around the cross display that will be set up in the Community Center. Following each Holy Week service you are invited and encouraged to spend time drawing near our Lord in this beautiful way.
Sunday, April 16 at 8:30 & 10:30 AM
Hear the peal of brass, the resonant chords of the organ, and voices uplifted together in joyous Easter song. Hear the message, old, yet ever new, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is risen, just as he said!” Proclaim and celebrate that death has lost its sting and Jesus’ reign is triumphant over all! Alleluia!
